CET counselling dates likely to be delayed
Of the 134 engineering colleges, it is likely that 20-30 colleges will declare a 'zero session', while transferring their students to other colleges.
BENGALURU: With engineering colleges delaying submission of seats available in their institutions to the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA), admission process to professional courses through Common Entrance Test (CET) in the state may get delayed.As per the calendar of events for CET candidates, KEA has to announce the seat matrix of all professional undergraduate courses on June 14, 4pm. However, the KEA has not received the number of engineering seats available in different streams and seat matrix of other courses from the colleges. The first round of optional entry to apply for various course seats is scheduled for June 15, 11am onwards. Even the department of Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy (AYUSH) has not given the number of Indian Systems of Medicine and Homeopathy’s (ISHM) seats; other colleges which offer architecture, BPharma, and DPharma have created the same problem for KEA. Presently, only BSc in Agriculture’s seat matrix is available with KEA.While the KEA has set a deadline of June 10 for all colleges to share the seat matrix, many engineering colleges failed comply. “ If colleges fail to provide the seat matrix by June 12, counselling dates are likely to be postponed,” said sources.“We have written letter twice to colleges to submit the seat matrix details to us, but still they haven’t sent it,” said S N Gangadaraiah, administrative officer, KEA.
